(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat in collaboration with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) and the Association of Caribbean Media Workers is facilitating an interactive two-day workshop on the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) for approximately thirty broadcasters from the Region.

The sessions are aimed at demystifying the concepts of regional integration and explaining the approaches of how to make a living within the CSME.

Broadcasters will be exposed to presentations on the Free Movement of Skills; The Movement of Capital and Competition within the CSME. These elements and others fall under a broad theme of “Making a Living in the CSME.” There will also be practical exercises to engage participants in producing easily digestible broadcast material on the CSME.

The event is only one of a wider set of initiatives towards greater awareness and understanding of the CSME by the peoples of the Region. The workshop is scheduled to take place in Barbados 16-17 June 2008 and is being facilitated with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
