Commitment of the haitian government to the success of CARIFESTA

The President of the Republic His Excellency Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly and Prime Minister Mr. Evans Paul, accompanied by members of the organizing committee of Carifesta, met on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the National Palace with the Secretary General of Caricom, Mr. Irwin LaRocque.

Mr. LaRocque conducted a two-day visit to Haiti to check on the organization of the 12th edition of the Caribbean Festival of Arts and Culture (Carifesta) to be held in Port-au-Prince, Cap Haitien, Les Cayes, Gonaives and Jacmel, from the 14th to the 23rd of August 2015, with the theme “Our roots, our culture and our common future.”
The Secretary General of CARICOM took advantage of his presence in Haiti to visit the sites within the capital where the festivities of this important artistic and cultural event will be held.
A government delegation composed among others of the Ministers of Culture and Tourism, will visit the countries of the region, during the month of May, to ensure the promotion of the event.
The government takes the opportunity to renew its commitment et its determination to organize Carifesta. Additionally, it invites the cultural operators to mobilize, in view of their participation in the caribbean festival of arts and culture, for the full and entire success of the festivities.
