China keeping technical support commitments

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - China has recently pledged significant support to the Caribbean, especially in the area of agriculture, with the first China-Latin America and the Caribbean Agricultural Ministers' Forum being held in Beijing on June 8-9.
China’s Ambassador to Barbados, His Excellency Xu Hong, told The Barbados Advocate, “The outcome document, Beijing Declaration, showed that a broad range of consensuses have been reached to co-operate between China and Latin American and the Caribbean countries, including joint exploration and promotion of the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Agricultural Co-operation Strategic Plan, clarification of the short-term goals, major tasks, priorities of the agricultural co-operation, and so on.”
He further noted that the forum also decided to jointly establish agricultural technology demonstration centres in the region to showcase, demonstrate and co-operate in crop planting, animal husbandry, veterinary, agricultural production, processing and conversion and side product utilisation with the aim to promote advanced technology to jointly raise agricultural productivity and processing ability.
