(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana)  CARICOM Chairman Dr the Hon. Keith Mitchell will lead a team representing the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in a cricket match against the University of the West Indies (UWI).

The 25 overs per team match will be played on Sunday, June 28 at the Gros Islet Cricket Ground, St Lucia, from 1.00 p.m. This event is part of the activities marking the 25th Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, which established the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) , and will also form part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the UWI.

Four of Dr Mitchell's colleague heads will take part in the match. Host Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Kenny Anthony, Prime Minister of Barbados the Hon. Owen Arthur , Prime Minister of Dominica the Hon. Edison James and Chief Minister of Montserrat, the Hon. David Brandt. Also participating on the Heads of Government team will be CARICOM Secretary-General Mr. Edwin Carrington and Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Orlando Marville.

Guest players for the CARICOM team include former Barbados and West Indies fast bowler Mr. Joel Garner and Windward Islands batsman Mr. John Eugene.

The University's team will be lead by one of its alumni, former Barbados and West Indies all-rounder Mr. David Holford, and will include Professor Hilary Beckles and Mr. Teddy Griffith.

The teams: CARICOM Heads of Government from Dr. Mitchell (capt.),. Dr. Anthony, Mr. James, Mr. Arthur, Mr. Brandt, Mr Eugene, Mr. Claude Hogan, Mr. Frederick Thorpe, Mr. Alton Crafton and Mr Julian Charles.

UWI team: Mr. Holford (capt.), Prof. Beckles, Mr Griffith, Dr. Andrew Burgess, Dr. Hadrian Peter, Prof. Mervyn Morris, Prof. Peter Fletcher, Mr. Horton Dolphin, Dr. Timothy Gopeesingh, Dr. Winston Bellows, Prof. Baldwin Mootoo, and Mr. Lennox John.
