Caribbean Development Bank Strengthens Haiti’s Efforts to Improve Access to Sanitation Services

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – On July 16, 2015, the Caribbean Development Bank’s Board of Directors approved USD211,000 in financing to help strengthen Haiti’s technical capacity to improve its population’s access to sanitation services. The funding, provided through the Bank’s Special Fund Resources, will contribute to the Governance and Sanitation Training Programme, which is to be run from September to December 2015.

CDB approves financing for solar photovoltaic plant in Anguilla

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Thursday July 23, 2015 – The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has approved a US$2.34 million loan to finance the installation and commissioning of a 1 Megawatt Solar Pholtovoltaic Plant which will enable the Anguilla Electricity Company Limited (ANGLEC) to introduce renewable energy into the mix for electricity production.

The project in Corito, in the south of the island, will also allow the utility company to examine and assess the response of its power system to the incorporation of an intermittent renewable energy source.

Caribbean Development Bank Partners with the World Bank Group to Build Public Procurement Capacity in the Region

Bridgetown, Barbados – July 9, 2015 – The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has announced the creation of a Regional Procurement Centre that aims to improve the efficiency and transparency of public spending across its Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs).

 

The Centre will provide high-quality, relevant, accredited education for procurement professionals in the Caribbean, which is tailored to the specific needs of the Region.

 

Suriname signs trade agreements with CDB

PARAMARIBO, Suriname, Jul 8, CMC – Suriname has signed two agreements with the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) that will improve the Dutch-speaking Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country’s implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) and the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

The CDB said that the two agreements signed with the Ministry of Trade and Industry will assist in transforming Suriname to a more competitive economy, increasing its export earnings, and making the country more attractive for investment. 

CDB to host workshop on PPPs at Caribbean Growth Forum

CDB Signs Renewable Energy Agreement With EU-CIF

Efforts by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) to promote the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency among its Borrowing Member Countries have been advanced by the signing of a Contribution Agreement with the European Union-Caribbean Investment Facility (EU-CIF), in Brussels, Belgium to support the new Sustainable Energy for the Eastern Caribbean (SEEC) Programme.
