(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater, Georgetown, Guyana) - Senior Officials of the Caribbean Forum of African Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM) and the United Kingdom (UK) concluded two days of fruitful discussions at the CARICOM Secretariat Headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana.

They met from 30 - 31 January for the First Meeting of the CARIFORUM-UK Technical Sub-Committee on Development Cooperation (TSCDC).

The TSCDC is one of the joint bodies established under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between CARIFORUM States and the United Kingdom (UK).

The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Paul Whittingham, Head of Trade for Development, FCDO-DBT, the UK.

The CARIFORUM side was led by Ms. Alexis Downes-Amsterdam, Director General of CARIFORUM and Mr. Andy Sutherland, Director-General for Foreign Trade, Belize.

About CARIFORUM-UK EPA

The CARIFORUM-UK EPA was signed in 2021 between the CARIFORUM States and the United Kingdom following Brexit to preserve the trading relationship between CARIFORUM and the United Kingdom which existed under the CARIFORUM-UK EPA.
