(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) H.E. Edwin Carrington has expressed gratitude to the government of France for its support to the Caribbean during the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) which concludes on April 28.
France readily acceded to the Region’s request for medical emergency facilities in support of its widespread efforts to ensure a safe and secure CWC, the Secretary General said.
He highlighted the support as a particularly timely and concrete example of the existing cooperation between France and the Caribbean shortly before accepting the letters of credence of new French Ambassador to the Caribbean, H.E. Jean-Paul Dumont on Wednesday April 18 at the CARICOM Secretariat.
In response, Ambassador Dumont said that “even though France doesn’t play cricket” it was very pleased to be able to respond positively to the Regions request to “access certain facilities in the French Departments of the Americas”.
