(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community His Excellency Edwin Carrington will pay a two-day official visit to the Netherlands Antilles on 20-21 September. The visit is at the invitation of the Government of the Netherlands Antilles.

The Secretary-General and a team of officials from the CARICOM Secretariat will arrive in Curacao on the evening of Wednesday 19 September and the following day will meet with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles Mrs Emily de Jongh-Elhage. The CARICOM team will also meet with the cabinet of the Dutch Overseas Territory in the afternoon and Mr Carrington will deliver a lecture on the theme “The Unification Process in the Caribbean” at the University of the Netherlands Antilles later that evening.

The Secretary-General will pay a courtesy call on the Governor-General His Excellency Frits Goedgedrag on Friday morning prior to participating in a mini-symposium organised by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Curacao at the Central Bank of the Netherlands Antilles. The symposium will focus on matters of trade and co-operation and the Secretary of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce, (CAIC) Mr Ludwig Ouenniche, who is the CAIC official responsible for relations with the European Overseas Countries and Territories will represent the regional business organisation.

The CARICOM delegation will depart from Curacao on Saturday morning.
