CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) H.E. Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended congratulations to Mr. Shivnarine Chanderpaul on his “deserved” selection as the International Cricket Council’s Cricketer of the Year.

`As Secretary- General of the Caribbean Community it is with great pleasure and enormous pride that I offer heartiest congratulations to you on your deserved selection as the International Cricket Council’s Cricketer of the Year.

Mr. Chanderpaul, throughout your career you have demonstrated a consistency of performance that must be the envy of many and a target for all. The past year has been really your annus mirabilis and this has been recognised with this award.

May this well-deserved accolade inspire you to even greater heights and encourage your team mates to follow your excellent example and so bring West Indies cricket back to the pinnacle that it previously enjoyed. I send these congratulations not only as Secretary-General of the Community but as a fan of the game and one of your strongest admirers.
