CARICOM Secretariat Will Host the 4th Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF), 12-14 November 2014

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat will be partnering with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REETA) Project in hosting the Fourth Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF). The Forum will be held from the 13-14 November 2014 at the Office of Caribbean Development Bank in St. Michael, Barbados.

The Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF) was established be a biennial event that provides a permanent sustainable energy platform for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The first Forum of its kind was held in Grenada in July of 2008. There were two other such Forums which were held in Jamaica and St. Kitts and Nevis respectively.

The Forum is intended to facilitate dialogue among key stakeholders and actions towards the adoption of more robust policies and the transfer of appropriate technologies in renewable energy and energy efficiency in CARICOM. The CSEF targets policy-makers including, Ministers and Senior Technical Officers from CARICOM Member States, senior academics from regional and national tertiary educational institutions, private sector energy service providers, International Development Partners, financiers, investors, renewable energy project developers and civil society. It seeks ultimately to enhance stakeholder support and contribution to diversification of the regional energy supply from its current fossil fuels base to a mix that includes significant renewable sources.

This year’s Forum will take the form of plenary sessions which will feature a Session Chair, Presenter and a Panel of Experts with inputs from the audience through interactive discussion.
