CARICOM Secretariat conducts staff development sessions

Aug 23, 2016

As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat moves apace with the implementation of the Community Strategic Plan 2015-2019, it is actively pursuing staff development training designed to enhance skills in several areas for junior and senior members of staff.

Under the auspices of the Office of the Deputy Secretary-General, Ambassador Manorma Soeknandan, the first training will have a broad focus on writing with an impact, conducted from 30 August to 9 September. Participants will benefit from modules that will be theoretically and practically delivered on report writing, speech writing and the writing of briefs.

This initiative is the result of a needs assessment conducted in 2015, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). That assessment concluded with recommendations based on interactions with staff, for training in specific areas.

A programme has also been designed for all senior and junior managers as well as supervisors who will benefit from a workshop facilitated by the Caribbean Leadership Project titled ‘Leadership all Possibilites’.

The CARICOM Secretariat is one of the implementing partners of the Community Strategic Plan along with the Regional Institutions and the Member States. It is the principal administrative organ of the Community.
