(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Haiti will host the Intersessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) 18-19 February 2013.

The arrangements for the meeting were agreed to at the Thirty-First Meeting of the Caribbean Community Council of Ministers when they met in Georgetown on Monday 14 January, 2013.

It will be the first time that Haiti will be host of a Meeting of the Conference. Haiti assumed Chair of the Community, also for the first time, on January 1, 2013.

The Council comprising Ministers responsible for CARICOM Affairs, the second highest decision-making organ of the Community also discussed the reform process within the Community. That discussion benefitted from a presentation by the Hon. Winston Dookeran, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, on a new thrust for the integration process.

Plans to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of CARICOM were also put on the table during the meeting as well as preparations for CARIFESTA XI which will be held in Suriname 16-25 August 2013.
