CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque held discussions with Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Ms. Helen Clarke in New York, Thursday.

 

The Secretary-General and his team joined CARICOM Heads of Government, other world leaders and heads of global institutions for the United Nations launch on Friday, of a landmark new framework “Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The framework which  aims to ‘end poverty and build a life of dignity for all, leaving no one behind’, has 17 goals and 169 targets to wipe out poverty, fight inequality and tackle climate  over the next 15 years.

The Caribbean Community has been a strong advocate on several key sustainable development issues of importance to the region, including Climate Change and Debt Sustainability.
