(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Statistical officials of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) met at the Headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana on 2-3 May to discuss the completion of national reports for the 2000 round of census exercises.
The progress review meeting was convened by Coordinator of the Census exercise, Mr. Sylvan Roberts. It was held to discuss the finalisation of National Census Reports from data collected in the 2000 round of censuses for the 18 CARICOM Member States and Associate Members that participated in the Regional Census Coordination Strategy. To this end, the meeting agreed that most of the national reports would be completed by June.
The meeting was also used as a platform for officials to plan a 6-week Regional Demographic Analysis Workshop which is earmarked for July to August of this year, as well as to discuss the preparation and printing of a Basic Table Volume containing basic statistics, and five regional special topic monographs.
