CARICOM SG and Institutions discuss the impacts of declining international development assistance

Executive Directors and other senior officials of Caribbean Community Institutions have updated Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett about the adverse effect of the current geopolitical developments on their ability to deliver essential services to the Region.

The developments were highlighted during a virtual meeting which the Secretary-General convened with Executive Directors and other senior officials of Community Institutions on Tuesday, 29 April.

OAS CSEP Project Host Workshop on Energy Efficiency Designs for Office and Public Buildings in Tropical Climates

The Organisation of Amercan States (OAS) Secretariat through the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) and the Energy Efficiency Working Group of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), hosted a workshop on energy efficiency designs for office and public buildings in tropical climates. The event took place at the Bay Gardens Inn in Rodney Bay from February 28th through March 1st, 2013. The CARICOM Secretariat is a Partner of the CSEP Project.

Calibration Workshop planned for February

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has a relatively developed system for national legislation for weighing machines. Automatic weighing devices are widely used to determine the quantity of loads in terms of mass. While some applications are specified by national legislation, they are subject to legal metrological control. In CARICOM there is an ever increasing need to have metrological quality confirmed by calibration testing systems against a standard of higher accuracy ensuring consistency in system integrity, for example, where required by ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 standards
