PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Accompanied by their spouses, political figures, a present and former state enterprise chairman, two directors and a television personality are among the passengers who were upgraded from economy to first class on directives from vice-chairman of Caribbean Airlines Ltd (CAL) Mohan Jaikaran. The names of dozens of officials, some travelling with their families, are listed on documents obtained by the T&T Guardian showing passengers who were upgraded by the airline for the period March 2011 to May 2013. A T&T Guardian exclusive story reported on Tuesday that Jaikaran, who also heads WINTV, had requested 19 complimentary airline tickets for a Mother's Day Concert to be held in New York and Toronto this weekend. The T&T Guardian learned the requests were sent to the office of the CEO to be facilitated on the instructions of Jaikaran, a promoter of the event.
