BREA to focus on energy efficiency

Jul 08, 2013

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - Recognising the need to raise the level of public awareness as it relates to energy efficiency and renewable energy technology, the Barbados Renewable Energy Association (BREA) will be launching a special Roadshow today.

Executive Director of the Barbados Renewable Energy Association (BREA), Clyde Griffith, along with Aidan Rogers, Public Relations Officer for BREA and Arit Okey, representative for Solaris Energy, a gold sponsor of the event, sat down with members of the media in the conference room of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) recently, to discuss the Roadshow. Griffith noted that the Roadshow comes at a time when there is much discussion about the need for the country to reduce its high fossil fuel import bill. As such, he said, the aim is to take the Roadshow across the country, to schools, churches and eventually the entire Barbadian community, to bring about greater awareness about energy efficiency.

The Roadshow Launch will take place today at the Bagnall Point Gallery in Pelican Village, at 6 p.m., and Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss, is slated to make an address.
