Ambassador Severin presented his Letters of Credentials to the Secretary-General of CARICOM on 24 January 2002.
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
His Excellency Anthony Bryan Severin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saint Lucia to the Caribbean Community has had a long and distinguished career in the Public Service.
A graduate of the University of the West Indies with an honours degree in Economics and History, Ambassador Severin completed his post graduate work at the university of Bradford in the United Kingdom and earned an MSc in National Development and Project Planning. His dissertation was entitled " Small Size and Associated Issues - an examination of the phenomenon of Small national Economic Size".
Since joining the Saint Lucia Public Service in 1980, His Excellency has risen steadily through the ranks from Senior Executive Officer (Finance) in the Ministry of Education and Culture through Chief Economist, Central Planning Unit, Ministry of Planning, Establishment and Training to Permanent Secretary in the Trade and Industry. Immediately prior to his Ambassadorial appointment, Mr. Severin served from 1994 as Cabinet Secretary and Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister.
Ambassador Severin has represented his country extensively throughout the Caribbean Hemisphere and further afield in a number of conferences, seminars and negotiations. He has a strong interest in culture and is a founding member of the famous Folk Research Centre of which he was Associate Director. He was Stage manager and Financial Comptroller of the Saint Lucia delegation to CARIFESTA 1981 in Barbados. He is also an executive member of the Saint Lucia Archaeological and Historical Society.
