PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Noting that the world is vastly changing, Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development, Bhoendradatt Tewarie, has called for greater regional integration. Speaking with reporters after the launch of the National Spatial Development Strategy Workshop on Wednesday at the Cascadia Hotel, St Ann’s, Tewarie said there was a greater need for co-operation within region today. “Islands cannot be sustainable without interconnectivity and collaboration,” he said.
“Basically, you need a system more than anything else. The Caribbean region and the wider region really needs a kind of coherence and collaboration now in order to survive.”
