The people of Belize have shown great determination and belief in a better future as they strive to build their nation.
The theme of this milestone Anniversary “Belize Renewed, Confident, Competitive, and Committed” reflects the passion in the heart of Belizeans for their homeland.
CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Hon. Dean Barrow of Belize on his country’s 34th Anniversary of Independence.
Full Message:
“Honourable Prime Minister:
On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) I offer most sincere congratulations to the Government and People of Belize on the 34th Anniversary of your Independence.
Belize has made remarkable progress in those 34 years and is justified in celebrating its achievements with pride. The people of Belize have shown great determination and belief in a better future as they strive to build their nation. The theme of this milestone Anniversary “Belize Renewed, Confident, Competitive, and Committed” reflects the passion in the heart of Belizeans for their homeland.
The Caribbean Community is highly appreciative of the crucial role that Belize continues to play in strengthening our integration movement. Its presence in Central America has also served to expand opportunities for CARICOM.
I look forward to continuing to work with the Government and People of Belize as they continue their march towards a viable, sustainable and prosperous country which would serve to strengthen the wider Caribbean Community.
