NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – The Bahamas is celebrating 40 years of political independence from Britain on Wednesday with praises for the founding fathers of the country.
The Bahamas has been staging a series of activities to mark the occasion and Governor General Sir Arthur Foulkes, speaking at the National Pride Day celebrations recalled when Britain’s Prince Charles handed over the Instruments of Independence to then Prime Minister Sir Lynden Pindling.
Sir Arthur said that all Bahamians should recall the work done over the past 40 years to ensure the success of the country, noting that “others have crossed the bridge of the generations to take over and yet others wait to continue to lead us on our national journey.
