ST JOHN’S, Antigua- Greenbay resident Victor Richardson II is the first Caribbean national to receive the prestigious honour of the US-based Campaigns and Elections Magazine’s Rising Star award for political consulting.
The 2013 awardee experienced elation on hearing the news. He said he was at sea hauling fish pots and as soon as he got within signal range, he received word of his achievement via WhatsApp instant messaging from his boss in the US.
“I was genuinely shocked because I’ve worked in the industry, in the US, the Caribbean and Latin America, and this is like the Holy Grail among political consultants,” he said. “It’s what everyone wants and nobody usually gets and you can’t scheme to get this one. It is a real honour and it’s an incredible feeling.”
