ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – The Antigua and Barbuda government says there has been no “substantial progress” with the United States with regards to the long standing internet gaming dispute despite recent rulings in its favour by the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The Baldwin Spencer government says it has sought to keep the trade dispute with Washington on “the front burner” of the WTO meetings even as it continues to seek an amicable solution to the matter.

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – A one-day meeting of the Regional Security Council (RSS) of Ministers began here Wednesday amid concerns that some member territories were defaulting on the financial contributions to the regional security grouping.
Canada’s High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Richard Hanley, did not name the defaulting countries, nor the amount in arrears.

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Legislators from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) have paid tribute to the late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, saying that his vision had inspired millions all over Latin America and the Caribbean.

St. John’s Antigua- The key debate at this year’s OECS Regional Assembly was the implementation of the Free Movement of People and Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer said the nation’s laws in this regard would be solidified in a matter of months. Spencer acknowledged that most of the seven- member states and two associate member- states have yet to implement free movement of the sub-region’s citizenry, but said there is a renewed “commitment” to do just that after the conclusion of the Assembly.

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – A delegation from the China EXIM Bank has arrived here for talks with government as Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer said his administration had repaid the funds borrowed to purchase the power plant at Crabbes.
“We are delighted that we have been able to close this loan agreement with the China EXIM Bank that was entered into by the former administration some 15 years ago.  Last month we made the final payment of 2.2 million RMB (One Chinese dollar = US$0.16 cents) on the loan,” said Prime Minister Spencer.
