PANCAP hosts meeting of Youth to discuss ending AIDS by 2030 - Youth Leaders to formulate and agree on framework for regional youth advocacy

The Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) will host a meeting of youth leaders from 19 Caribbean countries on April 21 and 22, 2017 in Port of Spain, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. 
 
The focus of the forum will be a discussion on the role of youth in the national and regional response to HIV and AIDS; participants will also be involved in formulating and agreeing on a framework for regional youth advocacy.

CARICOM After School Activity Programme (ASAP) workshop kicks off in Anguilla

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     The first of a series of workshops in preparation for the implementation of the pilot project for the CARICOM After School Activity Programme (ASAP) began on Monday in Anguilla.
The workshop which is being implemented by the Caribbean Sport and Development Agency was attended by twenty one persons consisting of teachers, coaches, sports administrators, and students from across Anguilla.

OECS environmental ministers to meet in Anguilla next week

THE VALLEY, Anguilla, CMC – Ministers of Environment and Sustainable Development from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) will meet here later this week to discuss environmental issues affecting the nine-member grouping.
The October 3 meeting will allow for the sub-region to also build on the green economy workshop held earlier this year and which examined streamlining environmental issues into development planning and decision-making, according to an OECS statement.

ECCB takes control

THE VALLEY, Anguilla, CMC – The St. Kitts-based Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) says it has assumed control of two indigenous banks in Anguilla noting the move is designed to ensure the stability of the banking system in the entire Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU). ECCB Governor Sir Dwight Venner in a statement confirmed that the operations of the Caribbean Commercial Bank (Anguilla) Limited (CCB) and the National Bank of Anguilla Limited (NBA) had been taken over.

Second LIAT ATR arrives in Antigua

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Another ATR 72-600 aircraft has been received by LIAT. The 68-seater plane arrived in Antigua yesterday at 2:45 pm, a little over three weeks after the first one arrived at the VC Bird International Airport. Six more ATRs will be introduced into LIAT’s fleet and delivery is expected to be complete within a few months.

Europe providing assistance to Anguilla

THE VALLEY, Anguilla, CMC – The Europe Union Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Mikael Barfod has held talks with Chief Minister Hubert Hughes and Governor William A. Harrison ahead of the disbursement of EC$13.3 million (One EC dollar = US$0.37 cents) under the island’s Medium Term Economic Strategy (MTES).
The EU is providing an overall aid package of EC$38.5 million to Anguilla to help boost economic growth and development on the British Overseas Territory.
