Madam Secretary General,

The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Caribbean Community gives me the pleasure to extend to you congratulations and best wishes of prosperity and well-being to the friendly people of all of CARICOM’s Member States.

On this auspicious occasion, I express my appreciation for CARICOM’s accomplishments so far, as well as my confidence that the organization will witness further progress, deeper integration and increased international prestige. I also take this opportunity to renew Romania’s long-term commitment towards the Caribbean and our political will to further expand our mutual beneficial cooperation in fields such as disaster management, climate change and education.

I assure you that Romania will remain a friend of the Caribbean within the European Union and I express my confidence that we will continue our fruitful cooperation also in the multilateral arena, based on our shared values and firm commitment to the upholding of international law and a rules-based international order.
