CARICOM Heads of Government Statement on the Situation in Haiti Following the Exchange with Key International Partners

CARICOM Heads of Government, including Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry, met with International Partners of Haiti including, Canada, France, the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Nations in a coordination meeting on the situation in Haiti in the context of the Security Council Resolution 2699. Haiti, as a sister nation of the Community was a key focus of the 46th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in Georgetown, Guyana, on 26 February.

CARICOM Statement on the ongoing situation in Gaza

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) remains deeply distressed by the ongoing violence and deteriorating situation in Gaza, which has resulted in the tragic loss of civilian lives, including the deaths of women and children on an unprecedented scale, and widespread displacement and suffering.

Sir Clive Lloyd to Receive Order of the Caribbean Community at 47th HGC

Thursday, 29 February 2024 (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown): Revered Guyanese cricketer and Caribbean hero Sir Clive Hubert Lloyd CBE AO, CM will be conferred with the Order of the Caribbean Community at the next Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, which will be held in Grenada in July. This was announced by H.E. Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, CARICOM Chair, on the final day of the 46th Regular Meeting in Georgetown, Guyana.

CARICOM and Brazil pledge to Deepen Cooperation

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater, Georgetown, Guyana) - CARICOM and Brazil have pledged to deepen cooperation as they see immense potential for enhancing mutually beneficial relations.

In this regard, they committed to hosting the first meeting of the CARICOM-Brazil Joint Commission in 2024 to rationalise the modalities for deeper collaboration.

Canadian Minister attends 46th Regular CARICOM meeting and announces new funding for multiple Caribbean countries

(Global Affairs Canada Press Release) The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of International Development, today concluded a 2-day trip to Guyana, where he represented Canada at the 46th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). This visit builds on the success of the Canada-CARICOM Summit, held in Ottawa from October 17 to 19, 2023, and reinforces Canada’s strategic partnership with the region.

Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, as he delivered the feature address at the opening ceremony of the Forty-Sixth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM on Sunday 25 February 2024.

Suriname to be added to inter-island regional ferry route

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said plans are moving forward for the “imminent” launch of an inter-island regional ferry service, with the intention to add Suriname to the route.

The Office of the Prime Minister said Dr Rowley joined regional leaders in Georgetown, Guyana, for the 46th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government on Monday.

The conference will run from February 25-28, 2024.
