The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation is pleased to extend greetings to all the people of the Caribbean Community on the occasion of CARICOM Day 2023. This year is of special significance as it marks the Golden Jubilee of the founding of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which came into being with the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, in Trinidad and Tobago on 4 July 1973, by the leaders of Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.

On behalf of the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Foreign Minister-designate Alicia Bárcena, I thank you for the generous invitation to participate in this meeting and wish to express to the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, our best wishes in the development of his Chairmanship of the Conference of Heads of Government.

I also thank the Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley for the incredible hospitality of Trinidad and Tobago during this meeting.
