CARICOM SG lauds Jamaica as a leading voice in international affairs

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown) - As Jamaica prepares to celebrate its Sixty-Second Anniversary of Independence on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, CARICOM Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett stated that the country continues to be a leading voice in international affairs, setting a standard of excellence in sports, music, and the arts and inspiring millions around the world.

CARICOM congratulates The Bahamas on 51st Anniversary

The Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr. Carla Barnett has lauded The Bahamas as “an example of remarkable socio-economic development within the Region,” as the Member State marks its Fifty-First Anniversary of Independence on 10 July 2024.

In a message conveying the Community’s congratulations to Prime Minister Philip Davis of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Dr. Barnett commended the country’s indomitable spirit to recover from setbacks and move forward.

Citizens of the Caribbean Community,

We are marking this Fifty-First Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) as several Member States are assessing the extraordinary damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl, the earliest recorded Category 5 hurricane in the Caribbean, and one of the most dangerous weather systems the Region has ever experienced. 

CARICOM extends congratulations to Guyana on its 58th Anniversary of Independence

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended congratulations to Guyana as the country prepares to celebrate its 58th Anniversary of Independence on 26th May 2024. In a Note Verbal to the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett lauded Guyana as "a leading and visionary voice on the international stage, tackling issues such as climate change, global peace and security, human rights, energy security, and inclusive development."
