ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, Saturday September 17, 2016 – The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has deepened its partnerships within the region in order to strengthen its efforts to address the withdrawal of correspondent banking services from some regional institutions.

However, an increasingly competitive global tourism market has meant that Caribbean countries must find ways to differentiate themselves, in order to continue to attract visitors.
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - Officials from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) have signed an agreement to provide US$33,000,000 towards financing sustainable infrastructure projects in the Caribbean region. At least 50 per cent of the funds will be used to fund climate change adaptation and mitigation projects.
When the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) launches its new Education and Training Policy and Strategy later in 2016, it will have had the input of some of the Caribbean Region’s key stakeholders. The Bank has undertaken a consultative process to ensure that the document, which will guide its funding and support for education and training in the Region, is aligned to countries’ specific needs. In addition to guiding the Bank’s development assistance to its Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs), the Strategy and Policy will take into account regional and global agendas on education.

This intervention responds to the global shift to digital music distribution, which has placed the Caribbean music industry at a significant disadvantage on the international scene.
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Jul. 28, CMC – The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has approved funds to address the high incidence of damage to the road infrastructure in Caribbean countries by natural hazard events and the potential for the loss of roads by rising sea levels.
Through a technical assistance project, the Bank provide US$768,000 to fund a study on approaches for mainstreaming climate resilience into the road transport sector in its Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs).
CASTRIES, St. Lucia, July 26, 2016 – Across the Caribbean, policymakers rely heavily on the availability of timely, accurate and reliable poverty data to support national and regional development initiatives. Despite making considerable progress on how they measure poverty, many countries in the Region do not frequently update or report on key poverty indicators, and are not able to assess the non-income dimensions of poverty and human development.
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -- The Caribbean region is known and celebrated for reggae and dancehall, soca, zouk and other genres. Yet many regional artistes, performers, their managers and publishers do not earn a sustainable living from their craft. The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), noting the challenges facing the region’s music sector and affirming its support for the creative industries, has committed funding for a workshop series designed for Caribbean music sector stakeholders.
Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, says the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is an example of regionalisation that works and has been blessed with outstanding leadership over its 46 years of existence.
“The CDB has had some great leaders, who have left an indelible mark on this institution,” Mr. Holness said.
A Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) sponsored study on maritime ports in the region is recommending a major overhaul in policies; significant increase in investments to fast-track modernization; more private sector leadership, and greater focus among the Bank’s Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) on improving efficiency.
The study is also proposing that Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) countries examine and explore a regional port strategy given the limited volumes being handled in some ports.
