Caribbean food production industry to receive US$469,000 in additional support

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -- The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has pumped an additional US$469,000 into the region’s specialty food sector via a supplemental grant to the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) under the Caribbean Aid for Trade and Regional Integration (CARTFund) Programme, which is funded by Britain’s Department for International Development (DfID).

Caribbean producers optimistic about new opportunities

The Third CARIFORUM-EU Business Forum opened in Montego Bay, Jamaica on Wednesday with calls for Caribbean countries to seize new opportunities offered by globalisation and improved access for the region to international markets.

The mood of optimism about opportunities for Caribbean producers, many of whom attended the conference, was summed up by Sharon Ffolkes Abrahams, State Minister of Jamaica, who delivered a keynote speech on behalf of the Jamaican Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.

Haiti’s Essential Oil Producers Receive Best Practice Training

Haiti’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIH) organized a best practices sharing mission for experts from the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) in Haiti from 10 to 13 March 2015 with the support of The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export). Haiti’s essential oils sector represents the country’s largest export sector, in particular the production of vétiver oil a main component in the production of fragrances and perfumes,  exported primarily to Europe and the United States.

Caribbean Export Explores Technical Management Unit To Support Regional Trade

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands -- Following the successful hosting of a business forum in the Cayman Islands, for private sector firms, the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) explored the establishment of a technical management unit (TMU) to assist exporters from the Caribbean Forum of African Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM) states that are interested in entering the French Caribbean market as well as to assist French Caribbean exporters with market information on the CARIFORUM region. 

Partnership Between Businesses in the Caribbean and EU to be Bolstered by the 3rd CARIFORUM-EU Business Forum

The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) will host its third CARIFORUM-EU Business Forum, scheduled to take place on April 15 – 16 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The conference, which is organised in collaboration with the ACP Business Climate facility (BizClim), seeks to enhance partnerships between Caribbean businesses and those in Europe, enable public-private dialogue, and support the business climate reform agenda in the Caribbean.
